Hakonechloa macra 'Allgold' 9CM
The Japanese forest grass is a striking perennial that changes colour with sunlight and seasons. In full sun, its long, spiky leaves turn golden yellow, while in part shade, they become lime green. It also produces lime-green to yellow flowers from June to July. In autumn, the foliage turns pinkish, and in winter, it changes to tan yellow before dying back. Despite these transformations, it's a low maintenance and easy-to-grow plant, suitable for both novice and experienced gardeners. Its dwarf and mound-forming habit makes it ideal for ground cover, or for planting along paths or around trees. Typically, it reaches a height of 20-30cm and spreads to about 30-40cm, making it a versatile addition to any garden.
